Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word representing Universal Life Energy, the energy which is all around us. Reiki, when activated and applied for purposes of healing, addresses body, mind and spirit. It accelerates the body's ability to heal physical ailments and opens the mind and spirit to the cause of disease and pain, the necessity for taking responsibility for one's life and the joys of balanced wellness.
Healing through touch is the oldest and simplest of all the therapies available to us. The act of laying on of hands to comfort, heal and relieve pain conveys warmth, caring and affection. It is an act of love and requires no special faith or belief. Reiki is used by people of many faiths and religions.
In the western world our healing skills have been neglected or forgotten and we have been losing the power to heal ourselves. At a time when the pace of life is becoming faster and demands on our bodies becoming greater, many of the ancient natural healing therapies are being rediscovered.
I have taken my level I Reiki with Reiki Evolution and will shortly be taking level II. Once I have completed this level I will start to offer treatments.
Who Can Benefit From Reiki?
Everyone who wishes to change in some way and accepts that, though others can help, ultimately we are each responsible for our own healing and transformation.
Reiki gives you the awareness, courage and ability to change what can be changed and the wisdom to understand and accept what cannot be changed.
What Happens During a Treatment?
Before a Reiki treatment no medical history will be taken, so the only details provided by you will be contact details.
The treatment normally takes place lying down on a couch, but can be given in a chair. No clothes are removed for the treatment, but if you are lying down you may prefer to remove your shoes for comfort. The treatment involves resting hands lightly on your body in set positions. Each position is held for approximately 5 minutes.
A sensation of warmth, cold, or tingling may be experienced under the hands, accompanied by a general feeling of relaxation and well being.
A treatment session lasts for either an hour or 90 minutes, depending on which option you choose. A course of treatments is recommended to receive maximum benefit from this therapy..
